The FRP++ Integration Week 2024 took place in Toulouse from November 18th to 22nd, 2024, across two key venues: The Centre de Ressources, d’Expertise et de Performance Sportive (CREPS) Toulouse, and The Institut Clément Ader (ICA).
This week-long event offered students a unique opportunity to meet in person and participate in a range of engaging activities designed to foster learning, collaboration, and personal growth.
On the first day, Prof. Bruno Castanié and Dr. Karine Giacomi warmly welcomed all participants at the CREPS venue. The day featured an ice-breaker activity, followed by a welcome dinner, providing a relaxed environment for students to connect and kick-start the week.
The second day focused on Unit FRP++6 Assignment 1. During the morning, student groups collaborated to finalize their assignments and prepare presentations. In the afternoon, each group delivered a 20-minute presentation followed by a 10-minute discussion, fostering teamwork and constructive feedback.
The third day featured enriching industry visits, namely the guided visit to the Airbus A350 final assembly line and explored the Aeroscopia Museum. The lunch at the Aeroscopia restaurant provided a great opportunity for participants to interact and network. In the afternoon, the students visited the ICA laboratories, gaining insight into cutting-edge research and facilities.
On the fourth day, Dr. Caroline Petiot, Senior Scientist in Composite Technologies at Airbus Central R&T, delivered a compelling keynote lecture on sustainable composite materials in aerospace. Following a coffee break, Rita Oliveira, from the FRP++ General Secretariat, conducted a seminar on “How to Prepare a CV”, equipping students with valuable career skills. In the afternoon, participants enjoyed a guided tour of downtown Toulouse, led by Dr. Karine Giacomi, which showcased key landmarks and highlights of the city.
The FRP++ Integration Week 2024 successfully created a dynamic and stimulating environment, fostering knowledge exchange, skill development, and the opportunity to build lasting connections among students and faculty. The diverse activities—from academic presentations to industrial visits and career-focused seminars—ensured an enriching experience for all participants.
